Wall Street keeps inventing faster ways for people to make money.

That usually means it keeps inventing faster ways to lose it.

The newest example is something called perpetual futures, often shortened to perps. These highly leveraged contracts have exploded in popularity among younger traders.

They allow people to make enormous bets using relatively little money. They trade around the clock and never expire like traditional futures contracts.

U.S. regulators recently opened domestic markets to these products. Companies, including Kalshi and Coinbase, have begun offering versions to American traders.

Demand has been extraordinary. Kalshi reportedly generated $1 billion in perpetual futures volume within its first week. That number tells us something important about markets today.

People are not suddenly becoming more patient. They are looking for faster action, bigger returns, and immediate gratification.

Social media only pours more gasoline onto that fire. Young traders post pictures of sports cars and expensive vacations. They claim highly leveraged trading helped pay for their lifestyles.

The message is seductive because getting rich quickly always sounds better. Unfortunately, leverage works just as quickly in the opposite direction.

Leverage Turns Small Mistakes Into Big Losses

Some offshore perpetual futures platforms offer leverage reaching 40 times a trader’s capital.

Think about what that means. A trader with $10,000 could control exposure worth roughly $400,000. A relatively small move against that position can destroy the original investment.

That is very different from owning shares in a great business.

When we own a financially strong company, time usually works in our favor. The company can increase sales, expand margins, reinvest profits, and repurchase shares.

A leveraged trader often faces the opposite situation. Time can become an enemy because markets constantly move against exposed positions.

Perpetual futures add another risk through automatic liquidation. Traditional investors can often tolerate temporary declines without being forced to sell.

Highly leveraged traders may never receive that luxury. When losses cross certain thresholds, positions can be automatically closed. The trader does not decide when patience has run out. The trading platform makes that decision.

During violent market declines, forced selling can create even more forced selling. That can turn an ordinary market decline into something far more painful.

None of this means financial innovation is bad. America became prosperous partly because innovators constantly created better financial tools. Deep capital markets help entrepreneurs raise money and businesses expand across the country.

Innovation becomes dangerous when people confuse financial tools with wealth creation.

Getting Rich Slowly Has Never Looked Exciting

There is something almost boring about successful long-term investing.

You buy shares in an outstanding business at a sensible price. The company grows earnings while management reinvests profits intelligently. You remain patient while business value compounds over many years.

Nobody makes a viral TikTok video about doing nothing for ten years. Yet that simple process has created enormous fortunes throughout American history.

Warren Buffett did not build his fortune by trading every market movement. He bought ownership stakes in businesses capable of compounding tremendous value.

That distinction matters more today because speculation has become incredibly accessible. Anyone with a smartphone can trade stocks, options, cryptocurrencies, prediction markets, and leveraged derivatives.

More opportunity does not automatically produce better investing results. Sometimes the greatest advantage comes from refusing unnecessary opportunities.

Successful investors understand that activity and progress are completely different things. Trading more frequently can feel productive without creating additional wealth. Owning an exceptional company can feel boring while creating enormous wealth.

That is one of the hardest lessons investors ever learn. The market constantly encourages us to do something. Great investing often rewards us for doing very little.

The Better Opportunity

This is exactly why we follow a different path at the American Prosperity Report. We are not searching for ways to turn $10,000 into $100,000 overnight. We are searching for companies that can become far more valuable over time.

Our advantage comes from understanding businesses rather than predicting every price movement.

We want companies benefiting from powerful economic tailwinds and expanding markets.

We want outstanding leaders who allocate shareholder capital with intelligence and discipline.

We want financially sound businesses producing real earnings and strong cash flows.

Most importantly, we want to buy those businesses at attractive prices.

That is how our Alpha-4 Approach keeps us focused.

We are trying to own America’s greatest wealth creators before their potential becomes obvious. America remains the greatest wealth creation machine the world has ever seen.

Our entrepreneurs keep building better technologies, medicines, factories, software, and financial networks.

Our capital markets give ordinary investors something historically extraordinary. We can become owners of these businesses with the click of a button.

We do not need 40 times leverage to benefit. We do not need markets trading every second of every day. We certainly do not need to risk everything on tomorrow’s price movement.

We simply need to identify exceptional businesses and give them enough time.

That approach may never generate exciting videos of overnight trading fortunes. It has something much more valuable behind it. American ingenuity keeps creating businesses capable of compounding wealth for decades.

Our job is finding the best ones at the right price.

Then we let great businesses and time do the heavy lifting.
